CORONATION EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT - TEMPORARY CHANGES TO HOURS

Due to a gap in physician coverage the Emergency Department at the Coronation Hospital and Care Centre will be CLOSED from 8 a.m. on Wednesdays until 8 a.m. on Thursdays, effective January 1, 2025. This will be a reoccurring closure until additional physician supports can be secured to help cover the vacated shifts. AHS medical leadership and Medical Affairs continue efforts to find locum coverage.

In addition, the Emergency Department will also be CLOSED on the following dates and times in January due to gaps in physician coverage:

• Friday, Jan. 10 from 8 a.m. to noon
• Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 8 a.m. until Thursday, Jan. 16 at 8 a.m.
• Friday, Jan. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon

When the ED is closed due to a physician coverage gap, nursing staff remain in the department to support any patients who may present to the site. No one will be turned away without being seen by a healthcare professional. Nursing staff will assess patients and provide care where appropriate.

Depending on their condition, patients may be referred to other facilities in surrounding communities, including the Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital in Castor, the Hanna Health Centre and the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre. These facilities have been advised of the upcoming Emergency Department closures so they can plan for, and respond to increased patient volumes as necessary. In the event emergency care is required, EMS will be available to transport patients.
