CETO TRANSMISSION LINE CONSTRUCTION: UPDATE NOV 13, 2024
November 13 2024The Central East Transmission Out – CETO – line from Tinchebray substation in the NW corner of the County heading west to and through the County of Stettler to the County of Lacombe will see significant construction activity for the next month and more. Currently ground construction of the transmission line towers is being completed, and starting immediately will be their erection from Tinchebray Sub up RR151 to TR400 and then west to Hwy 601 on the west side of Hwy 855.
Following tower erection completion, wire stringing will be commenced via helicopter the entire route until completed. The project construction is expected to be near completion on or prior to the Christmas break of 2024. There will be a large number of ATCO staff and subcontractors and related vehicles all on various sites during this period, increasing traffic significantly on TR400. Following road use regulations from the County, all construction vehicles are restricted to a maximum of 50 kph, please use caution if needing to pass.
Public travelling along TR400 will expect to see cranes and large trucks working within the roadway, minor traffic disruptions are to be expected. Temporary traffic stoppages may be required and all motorists are advised to obey all flagmen or traffic control at the sites being worked. Please reduce speed passing construction workers, or avoid the area if you have alternate routes that can be used. Due to safety of both public and workers, construction “tourism” is highly discouraged especially while the helicopter stringing may pose restricted visibility at work sites.
Any concerns or issues may be communicated to the County administration office for follow up by calling 403-882-3211.
