The following information is to provide a summary of Council meetings from April 2019 and upcoming activities. Further explanations or details can be obtained by contacting the County Administration Office at 403.882.3211.

Bylaw 673-19 Procedure Bylaw - MOVED by Council that Bylaw 673-19 be given First to Third and Final Reading.

County Policy 221 Employee Code of Conduct - MOVED by Councillor Norton County Policy 221 Employee Code of Conduct be adopted.

RFD: Purchase of Plan 1324749 Block 1 Lot 3 – MOVED by Councillor Hewitt the County purchase the lands, described as Plan 1324749 Block 1 Lot 3, for the agreed price of $39,375.00 funded from the 2018 Capital Budget.

RFD: Strategic Plan 2019-2022 – MOVED by Councillor Glazier that Council approve the 2019-2022 Strategic Planning Document, and that items be brought before Council for approval on an individual basis before proceeding by Administration.

Public Consultation Summary Report - MOVED by Councillor Norton the Strategic Planning and Public Consultation Survey results be published and placed on the County website for viewing.

Request from Castor Bantam AA Boy’s Hardball Team – MOVED by Councillor Wiart the request from Castor Bantam AA Boy’s Hardball Team be granted $500.00 in accordance with County Policy 480 Recreation & Community Service Grants.

Request for a Culvert from Suncrest Colony - MOVED by Councillor Norton the County cover the costs to install a culvert on TR 360 west of RR 132 on the condition that Suncrest Colony cover the cost of materials.

Burma Park Operations – MOVED by Councillor Hewitt that Hugh McLarty be awarded the contract for Burma Park Operations dependent on completion of a first year probationary period of a 3-year term.

Huber Dam Operations – MOVED by Councillor Glazier that Kelly Thornton be awarded the contract for Huber Dam Operations dependent on completion of a first year probationary period of a 3-year term.

2019 Operating and Capital Budget – MOVED by Councillor Hewitt the 2019 Operating Budget and Capital Budget presented on April 2, 2019 be approved.

2020-2022 3-Year Operating Plan and 2020-2024 5-Year Capital Plan – MOVED by Councillor Elliott the 2020-2022 3 Year Operating Plan and 2020-2024 5 Year Capital Plan presented on April 2, 2019 be approved.

Endeavor Chartered Professional Accountants - MOVED by Councillor Norton to accept the presentation from Monica Faupel, CPA,CA of Endeavor Chartered Professional Accountants as information and that the 2018 Financial Statements be approved as presented.

Bylaw 675-19 Fire Services Bylaw – MOVED by Councillor Wiart that Bylaw 675-19 being the Fire Services Bylaw, be given First Reading.

Bylaw 676-19 2019 Mill Rate Bylaw - MOVED by Council that Bylaw 676-19 be given First, Second, Unanimous Consent, and Third and Final Reading.

Upcoming Meetings – Council Meetings - May 7, 2019, May 21, 2019, June 4, 2019 and June 18, 2019 commencing at 9:00 a.m. and are always open to the public. Delegations are always welcome. To request a time allotment, please call the office of the CAO. All requests must clearly identify the reason or purpose of the appointment and follow the guidelines as per Section 21 - Delegations of the County’s Procedure Bylaw 673-19.

Spring is here… please keep in mind that our crews will be out working on our roadways and to use extreme caution while travelling and passing our workers in any of our construction zones.  For your safety, follow all posted signs in our work areas and please do not remove or go around road closed barricades. Please check the County web site or face book page for upcoming work areas and road closures which may last longer than one working day. We thank you in advance for your cooperation as we would like everyone to safely return home to their families at the end of each day.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK
MAY 5 – 11, 2019

Last year the County sent out a yellow farm planning form with your tax notices – to be used in the event of rural emergencies and disasters.  While many forms were returned, there are still many that have not been completed. All this is for the benefit and safety of all County residents, everyone is encouraged to complete this form and return to the County office. The information gathered is used only in the event of an emergency. Thank you!

STRYCHNINE LIQUID CONCENTRATE

2% liquid strychnine concentrate is now available for purchase for the 2019 season through the ASB. Product will be sold in 250mL bottles of concentrate at a cost of $10.50 each. One bottle will treat 1kg of grain (e.g. a 5 gallon or 12kg pail would require 12 bottles). A minimum order of 6, 250mL bottles is required to a maximum of 72 (there are 24 bottles/case).

Pre-orders will not be taken. Pickup at the County shop will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m., at which time payment will be collected (please bring a cheque).

When picking up product, please come prepared with the following information:

  • Mailing address of purchaser
  • Telephone number of purchaser
  • Home quarter LLD
  • LLD(s) where product will be used
  • Type of field(s) to be treated (crop, forage, or pasture)
  • Approximate infested area of each field type
  • Approximate farm size

Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Waste Round-up

The Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up will be held on SATURDAY, MAY 25TH, 2019. The host community this year will be the Town of Coronation with collection and pick-ups in Halkirk and Castor. In addition to the usual waste round-up we will also be collecting electronic waste at the same time. The following is the schedule how the event will take place.
