ROUND 1 – Complete
A huge "Thank-you" to those that provided your input in Round 1. We listened, read and have been diligently working away these past few months to compile all that information into an understandable report. The Public Summary Input Report has been presented to council and is now available to the public. Click the link below to download the report. IMPORTANT NOTE – ROUND 2 POSTPONED
Due to the Public Health Advisory and concerns surrounding the Covid19 virus, our planned Round 2 engagements have been postponed until further notice. We are anticipating community life returning to normal sometime this summer or fall, so will be hosting Round 2 evenings then. Watch our webpage, fb, and bulletin for where and when. They will follow the same geographic regions as Round 1.

Why do you want me to come?
The County is inviting landowners and land users because your experience and values as they pertain to how you interact with the land is an important guide for the County in determining what the future of land development looks like in the County of Paintearth. We want you to attend so we can work at developing community together.
How will my input be used?
Values and ideas provided by participants will be incorporated into the policy statements in the new Municipal Development Plan; the County’s goal is to produce a document that closely reflects how citizens want lands to be developed.
Input on Land Use Bylaw regulation will be used to provide options for regulatory frameworks in an upcoming session in the spring where residents will have the option of voting for the regulations that suit the County’s future land users best.
During the second session, a number of topics will be presented in the form of multiple choice questions. These questions will be derived from options that are to be discussed and shared during the first round of consultations.
Can I attend more than one session?
As the Round 2 evenings are direct voting by electronic measures, residents are only allowed once, following the “one person one vote” basic democratic practice. You will be able to attend the evening of your choice to accommodate your schedule – however the geographic locations are preferred. Once you have attended a session you will be turned away if attending a second session.
What is an MDP?
The Municipal Development Plan is a guide that provides future direction on development matters for the entire municipality. Ideally, the plan is created with end-users in mind; landowners, ratepayers, community groups etc. These are the people who will live and work here, and it is their vision of how development should proceed that a carefully prepared plan should consider.
What does a Land Use Bylaw mean to me?
Planning decisions made by the County are based on regulations contained within the Land Use Bylaw. Zoning designations, land uses and enforcement rules are established within the Land Use Bylaw, all of which impact local landowners and potential developers.
Municipal Development Plan & Land Use Bylaw Review
The County will be undergoing a very involving and detailed community engagement process in reviewing our MDP and LUB for updates in 2020. The process is planned over 3 rounds of public engagement starting in January 2020.
Round two sessions are tentatively planned for early fall 2020 and will feature the participants being able to electronically vote for options or directions presented, which will then be moved forward into the draft MDP and LUB updates. Shorter evening sessions are anticipated where refreshments will be available.

Round three will see the prepared drafts of the updated MDP and LUB hosted during open houses around the County, on a drop in basis. The current plan is to have these two documents ready for public review around late November or just prior to Christmas break.
