Metal Recycling

Metal recycling is becoming a large industry.  Base metals, copper and brass are highly sought after for resale and reuse.

Paintearth Regional Waste Management Ltd. in cooperation with Port A Crush recycled all  metal collected at  the Castor, Coronation and Halkirk Transfer Stations. Fridges, washers, dryers, hot water tanks and other metals are collected each year and taken to recyclers in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Port A Crush crushes the metal into bales and then trucks them to the various recyclers.

Recyclers take the bales which are melted down and then separated into the various types and then sold to manufacturers for use in making their particular products.

Barbed wire is also taken at the sites. Remember that the wooden posts have to be removed from the wire.
