The following information is to provide a summary of County activities for March 2018. Further explanations or details can be obtained by contacting the County Administration Office at 403.882.3211.

RFD - Change of Useful Life on Fire Pumper Units - MOVED by Councillor Hewitt to change the useful life on fire pumper units to 20 years to better align with the salvage value.

RFD - Councillor Time Sheets - Clarification - MOVED by Councillor Wiart the meeting per diem be clarified and set as follows: half day is up to 4 hours, full day is up to 7.5 hours and over 7.5 hours is a full day and a half.

RFD - Emergency Response Plan Directive - MOVED by Councillor Blumhagen the addition of what to do in the event of an internal emergency regarding media on the Emergency Response Plan Directive be adopted as presented.

RFD - Upgrade of Firewall - MOVED by Councillor Hewitt the County purchase the MX100 firewall from Special Areas for $3,000.00, Advanced Security License Subscription for $7,000.00 plus additional fees of $700.00 for a total of $10,700.00 to be funded from Non-Capital.

Request for Funding - 3C’s Bantam A Team - MOVED by Councillor Norton the County of Paintearth No. 18 provide $500.00 to the 3C’s Bantam A Team participating in the Provincial Championship Tournament on March 15-18, 2018 as per County Policy 480 Recreation & Community Service Grants.

Brownfield Truck Fill - Update - MOVED by Councillor Glazier the County proceeds with the Truck Fill, being built through the Water For Life grant and managed by the Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission, at Brownfield with a maximum of $250,000.00 funding from the County.

RFD - Water Access - MOVED by Councillor Blumhagen the applicant be charged the $7,500.00 hook-up fee plus the over costs the County will incur to install the line and that it be dependent on the development permit being received.

Coronation Memorial Library - MOVED by Councillor Glazier to accept the presentation by Marilyn Polege and Eunhye Cho on the services of the Coronation Memorial Library as information.

Legal Opinion on Correspondence Received - MOVED by Councillor Glazier that Administration prepare a response, subject to legal review, from the County in response to the correspondence received from the ratepayer.

Castor Arena Renovations - MOVED by Councillor Hewitt  to accept the presentation by R. Elhard, S. Renschler and N. Bozek on the March 2018 Update on the Castor Arena Renovation Project Funding as information.

Gravel Presentation - MOVED by Councillor Hewitt to accept the Administrative Gravel Presentation presented by B. Cooke, Director of Public Works as information.

Update - Bridge BF 75701 (NW 12-28-12-W4) and BF 70101 (SW 6-37-13-W4) - MOVED by Councillor Blumhagen to accept the update on Bridge BF 75701 (NW 12-28-12-W4) and BF 70101 (SW 6-37-13-W4) as information.

Municipal Planning Commission/Emergency Management - MOVED by Councillor Norton to accept the briefing on the Municipal Planning Commission/Emergency Management as information.

Budget Presentation - MOVED by Councillor Norton the Budget Presentation be accepted as information.

Correspondence - MOVED by Councillor Blumhagen the following correspondence items be received for information: RMA - Member Bulletin/District Highlights Issue 11 (circulated via emails) & Correspondence - Brent Heidecker.

Upcoming Meetings - Council Meetings - April 4, 2018 (Wednesday), April 17, 2018, May 1, 2018, May 15, 2018, June 5, 2018, June 19, 2018, July 24, 2018 and August 14, 2018  commencing at 9:00 a.m. and are always open to the public. Delegations are always welcome. To request a time allotment, please call the office of the CAO. All requests must state the nature and subject you wish to discuss as per Section X of the County’s Procedural Bylaw 605-11.

AGRICULTURAL SERVICE BOARD

STRYCHNINE LIQUID CONCENTRATE

2% liquid strychnine concentrate will be available for purchase for the 2018 season starting March 21, 2018 through the ASB. Product will be sold in 250mL bottles at a cost of $10.50 each. One bottle will treat 1kg of grain (e.g. a 5 gallon or 12kg pail would require 12 bottles). A minimum order of 6, 250mL bottles is required to a maximum of 72 (there are 24 bottles/case).

PRE-ORDERS WILL NOT BE TAKEN. Pickup at the County shop will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m., at which time payment will be collected (please bring a cheque). Feel free to call ahead to Trevor Kerr at 403.740.9182 for availability.

When picking up product, please come prepared with the following information:

  • Mailing address of purchaser
  • Telephone number of purchaser
  • Home quarter LLD
  • LLD(s) where product will be used
  • Type of field(s) to be treated (crop, forage, or pasture)
  • Approximate infested area of each field type
  • Approximate farm size

If you are picking up product for more than one landowner, please bring the above mentioned information for all landowners.

The County has an opening for a member of the public residing within the east half of the County to sit as a County representative on the following Board:  Coronation & District Family Support Services
